I am so with you on the tiny bowl front. My husband says I have a problem, but I think it is more that I delight in taking my snacks in colorful vessels that fit in the palm of one hand. What could be problematic about that? With the possible exception, maybe, of cabinet space :-)

But they’re so tiny it doesn’t even take up thaaaaaat much space!!

I also love tiny bowls. Can I ask if there are any potters you like to buy from?

Lisa Clarke's avatar

Not really. I have a little bowl from Bridgman Pottery that I ordered online years ago, and I love it, but for the most part, I will just buy a bowl when an affordable one really grabs me at a craft show.

Another for the small bowl club. I have a whole cupboard full 🫢🙈

How I love the wide variety of topics touched on today!

Catherine, three cheers for you, for reaching your 2 year sober-versary and what a clever gem of a husband you have.

I thought "oh wow, that eel picture looks a lot like the eels at our zoo." Scrolled down - it is an eel from our zoo in my daughter's favorite building.

I love everything about this especially your No Kings poster. Could not be more perfect, and I mean that from both the protester perspective and the word-lover perspective.

I made this recipe exactly as written, except these six things I did differently!

Craving a micro-sundae in a little bowl all the way in Ireland. Loved this newsletter very much.

Love the chocolate smudge at the bottom of the cake recipe. All of my good recipes have smudges.

While I too love small bowls, I feel there is nowhere near enough praise for small VASES in these comments! The very small ones are perfect for the pansy you break off accidentally while deadheading and the tiny flowering weed your husband brings in from the yard. I will say that they work best in a home with window sills….which my new-to-me home does not have. Grrr!

But they’re so cute on an end table or nightstand too!

I, too, love tiny bowls and bud vases. A local potter offers an annual bud vase subscription (and a mug subscription)…every four months you receive a bud vase and/or a mug. I gift myself both subscriptions, and I love me so much when they arrive on my doorstep!

Optimal subscription: 1 bud vase, 1 tiny bowl, 1 mug, 1 small to medium sized bowl.

Ooh, I want to do that!!!!

Our local high school used to host an Empty Bowls fundraiser. Ceramics students make bowls, restaurants donate soup, people buy a bowl and choose their soup. Money goes to feed people. Perfect! The collection of bowls I have (which I love) is insane! The ones I chose are blue, green, blue/green.... The bowls my son chose are the largest bowl available regardless of aesthetics, black and jagged because it looks like a dragon's egg, grey with a red Rebel Alliance logo, blood red.... I wouldn't have it any other way.

Also, have you considered tiny pitchers?

Huge congrats on your tiny chip! I love tiny bowls and vases and also tiny silverware for serving, i.e. little appetizer forks and spoons and espresso spoons that make it fun and remind me of Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle (the Tiny Bite Taker-Slow Eater Cure). I find small servings to be so much easier to digest and enjoy!

Tiny bowls need tiny spoon friends

Not me crying over the stack of tiny bowls my mom left me with when she so rudely moved across the country from me recently… bowls she MADE on her POTTERY WHEEL when I was a TODDLER 😭😭 oops, sorry, perimenopause. You guys get it.

I love small things too! I recently wrote about Crista Pisano, a painter who makes tiny paintings: https://palateandpalette.substack.com/p/crista-pisano-painter

Thank you for introducing us to her - wow, her art is beautiful.

I feel great after reading your words.

Absolutely love tiny bowls too! I got a set of like 15 from my local Buy Nothing group: I think they might be little soy sauce dishes from a sushi place and they are perfect!
