Thanks for the yummy recipes (and mentioning edamame for those of us who hate peas in things)!
Also, the cosmetic company is Freck (as in short for freckle), not "Feck" - their claim to fame is making a makeup pen that can be used to put on faux freckles . . . which is hilarious, as we old redheads remember when as young folk, we would get teased/harassed for having those spots.
I read Wreck last week and really enjoyed it (also cried). So much nuance, so much love, deep quirky hilarity. Your line about parenting in the teen years being akin to patiently holding out a hand of birdseed hoping a chickadee will alight, gah! I can’t stop thinking about that. (Sorry if I mis-paraphrased.) When I glanced at the list of your other books, I realized my kid had checked out Stitch Camp from the library the very same day my Wreck hold arrived! Serendipitously, neither of us realizing it was by the same author. You are so talented and singular - thank you!
New recipes! Thank you! I just finished Wreck and loved it of course. I wrote down a line from the book because the way you described the feeling of missing grown children was so spot on. "The way I miss him feels like an empty room in my body. Like I'm missing one of my vital organs." Yes! That is exactly how it feels and yet I'm thrilled that they are happy and thriving in their own lives away from us.
I am a lipstick fiend and immediately ordered two shades of Freck. Sadly, I didn’t finish reading before I made my purchase and did not buy any eyeliner… my other weakness. Next time. Thanks!
Oh, and I keep seeing recipes for socca, but yours honestly looks like the best version as a pizza. I need to make it soon. Yum.
Just wanted to say that I loved both Sandwich and Wreck. I could read about this family all day long so please continue this series. I have the rest of your books on deck also. I live in Tucson and am wondering if you have stopped here or Phoenix on your book tours. We have the Changing Hands Bookstores located in Tempe and Phoenix, and The Poisoned Pen Bookstore in Scottsdale. I'm sure I'm not the only reader in Arizona that would love to meet you in person. Love the Crone Sandwich posts as well. Take care!
Sounds like a great recipe, as I’m gluten-free. Thanks. Have you ever tried it with almond flour? I try not to overstock all the different GF flours. (I really enjoyed Sandwich. Great story.)
What a surprise to find the most famous food of my new hometown, Nice, as the star of your newsletter: socca! Not everyone loves it, and here it's often too heavy for one person. (I'm often the only person who loves it.) I'll have to try it in pizza form.

trying to write your name with a crayon on the skin of an old onion
This made me laugh out loud because it is so accurate!
Came here to say this! Cackled.

Oh man. It really is both.
Luckily for some of us, grandchildren can fill the hole... partially.

Paula, I'm going to be at the Tucson Book Festival in March!
Great! I will look forward to seeing you!
I’ve loved you (conceptually) since your house tour on cup of Jo. That is all. ❤️

I actually think this really needs to be chickpea flour--it's, like, a whole thing.
Wreck and Freck - winning combination! You should write gift guides. 😉
Link broken to the riceless recipe FYI - would love to see it as I am always watching carbs and love cabbage!
Oh shoot! It's this: https://diatribe.org/diabetes-recipes/riceless-fried-rice

Did you know that your adulting book is being marketed on TikTok? So cool! (I’m 64 and addicted to TikTok)
Amazing!
