I put too many kernels in the Whirley Pop because I wanted MORE popcorn and then I got LESS! #irony #metaphor

Oh, my loves, I am gearing up for this and very excited and nervous because I love people and it’s so much fun to travel but also I’m an introvert and a homebody and I am daunted by airports and the occasional hostile question and by the possibility that an event will be attended ONLY by the guy who broke my heart in college and my dad’s drunk cousin Bumbie. (True story! I’m looking at you, Philadelphia Barnes and Noble! Except that Bumbie is no longer alive—so will it just be my ex? Moot question because I won’t be going to Philly in this round.) Anyhoo, please pre-order Wreck, if you can, or ask for it at your library. And note that the indie bookstore first editions are signed! (Picture me on the couch in my underpants and giant purple headphones, listening to Marriage at Sea and signing 12,000 tip-in pages over the course of multiple weeks. I got an actual blister!) Those indie editions also include bonus recipe content! For delectables as varied as Brown-Butter Waffles, Willa’s Favorite Tofu, and, yes, Corn Chex Nacos. These are real recipes. Like, for things that we eat all the time.

Meanwhile, I am delighted to report that Wreck is the Number One indie bookstore pick for November and a top ten library pick for October! (Bless you, librarians and booksellers.) I’m going to make these next images small so as not to revolt and overwhelm you with my braggadocio.
